First target of 2013 for me

There is still quite a bit of snow on the ground in partially shaded areas and in some spots the ground is still frozen but I finally got out this morning to a school. Very first target of the year was a 10 k gold ring with a dark blue stone in it. Not sure what the stone is. the ring had been stepped on and is pretty much squashed flat, but it was THE FIRST TARGET of the year and I hope that it is a sign of good things to come. Pictures will follow when I get them downloaded.

Gold is gold, stepped on or not. You can
still it when you get enough to send in to a
refinery.

Even with a magnifying glass, I can't tell if the stamp is 10 or 141 K. It seems to change as I change the angle of the ring. Anyhow, here are the pictures

What a way to start the year. It looks like some diamonds to go with the blue stone.

Yup. There are 6 tiny chips...presumably diamonds but I haven't had it looked at by a pro yet.
