First Texas Customer Service dosen't seem to monitor the T2 forum so i figure I'd post this here:ranting:

I was about to purchase the T2 but now after all these comments about the smaller coil, makes me wonder if this is such a good idea. Is this a good detector without the smaller coil available? I am also in the southwest and like to coinshoot and nugget hunt. Will this detector fill the bill? Thanks for any info.

LL... I'm not going to bash the T2 for only having one coil available. There are a lot
of detectorists wishing for accessory coils for special circumstances. You mention
you are in the southwest and like to both coin- and nugget- hunt. I'm in the San
Bernadino (city) area about sixty miles east of LA...

I also have wished for the "promised" smaller coil for the T2. However, I now believe
the "bean counters" have likely "nixed" this; leaving some of the lesser spokespersons
who originally touted the coming of a smaller coil with egg on their face. (My heart goes
out to one of them...!)

The fly in the ointment so as to speak, was when FT bought out the bankrupt Fisher
Detector line... Thus the F-75 became the "flagship." So, most likely the smaller coil
for the Teknetics T2 may not become available.

To be blunt, it is likely a matter of economics... The T2 has been available for a couple
of years and the "bloom has faded." Possibly there hasn't been too many T2's
manufactured, and how many would now buy an accessory coil for the T2?

So this likely leaves the T2 to eventually fade into the sunset without the smaller accessory
coil. But it will become a "classic(?)" and there will always be a small fan club loyal to it.
I bought one of the early ones; paid $50 for the modification. I do not regret this. However,
I regret FT not being forthright in letting us know about the latest status of the accessory
coil... I can live with a simple yes or no...

the t-2 coil is awsome and doesnt really need a small coil, i personally want one just for the smaller phsyical size to fit inbetween rocks and thick growth, as far as seperation it works as well as the 4x6 DD shooter coil i had for my whites
