First Texas Products is looking for experienced engineers for product design and development. Our product categories include metal detectors, security scanners, and underground utility locators. BSEE or higher degree plus several years’ experience in instrumentation design preferred, but will consider non-degreed candidate who can demonstrate design engineering proficiency in any of our product categories.

Qualifications:
  • BSEE plus 2-5 years of experience in instrumentation design; non-degreed individuals with metal detector design experience strongly considered
  • Low-noise analog circuit design
  • Quadrature receiver design
  • Knowledge of analog and digital filter design
  • Embedded programming in C, experience with ARM-Cortex processors a plus
  • Knowledge of metal detection and the hobby a plus
  • Good communication and documentation skills
Responsibilities:
  • Design of metal detection and utility locator products including concept, architecture, definition, development, testing, and handoff to production
  • Design of low-noise analog circuitry; IF, ZIF, and direct sampling receivers; analog and digital filters
  • Embedded software development in ‘C’
  • Component selection throughout the design
  • Assist with user-interface design and mechanical package development
  • Prototyping, field testing, and evaluation
  • Develop test hardware, processes, and documentation for manufacturing
