First time freshwater hunting with F70

I hunt in chest deep water with F70+Nel Sharpshooter coil. I put the upper rod into a nylon bag and the whole thing fixed on a small rubber dinghy. A little complicated but usable.
Freswater lake gravel bottom. Lot of iron pieces, bottle caps, foil, hot rocks, coins and jewelry.
The GB was 94,95, 98 i can't set lower. I start with Disc 0, Sens 50, DE, Tresh 0. the machine run smooth, i find coins and other stuff no jewelry.
The water was calm at the beginning but then the wind picked up soon. The little boat almost capsized several times.
I try Sl mode with same setting, was a little noisy but works. I could not easily change the settings, and the display was difficult to see through the bag.
Many coins and junk, some silven, no gold. I hope I'll be luckier next time.

I dont understand you question Mudpuppy.
Please give some advice, when you hunt on beach you use autotune mode sometimes or DP tones?
I got cable clams today, i will put the F70 in a airtight food container, I'll go waterhunting tomorrow. One problem is that the box I can not change the settings. I prefer the SL setting, deeper with low conductive targets. my buddy find a nice 14k bracelet,. the F70 in DE mode is only seen very closely. 1-2" Not enough! In SL mode saw 4".


No matter what settings I use the machine in the water. Will I try the Aquapac bag, i hope i can change the setting When I hunt in the water.

Yes I hunt in DE mode, but again, i'm after fresh drops, I still get good depth on coins, I like DP tones especially in the dark, i hunted last year in AT, and may return to that for a while.
AT mode wont let me use tones right? Seems like I have to have at least 1 disc to get DP? I pulled some coins yesterday at the surf line that were 6" deep or more, in layers of black sand, the signal is sort of weird, but I know something is there. Swinging fast like I do, any little chirp needs to be rescanned a little to lock in on it. I dont think I'm missing much, when I find a likely spot, I slow down of course, I'm finding old dropped nickles which is good, lets me know that everyone else missed them in the years gone by, so there just might be some gold around. I dont ever change settings when I'm out or PP either, and just use my ears as a discriminating tool. Thanks for your posts. Good Luck!
