First Time Out With SE

Used Bryce's Iron Mask settings from Andy's book. Found 9 memorials, 1 clad dime, 2 wheats (1927 & 1955), 1 Canadian cent (1932). Dug a couple of pull tabs and several screw caps. Nothing very deep, the deepest coin was the Canadian @ 5+ inches. I did dig a nail that squeaked through @ 7 or so inches. I think having used a Safari for the last 5 months helped me recognize the tones. I have a WHOLE LOT to learn about setting up the SE and then tweaking it for the goofy North Ga. ground. Cant wait to take this machine relic hunting...when the weather cools.

Good luck with the SE Barry. It's an awesome machine.

When you start relic hunting...I would definitely not use my settings though....but I'm sure you already knew that.

Ferrous sounds and an open screen is what I have always heard works wonders for relic hunting.

I would love to give that a shot some day. I have never had the opportunity to hunt for relics. someday maybe...just like getting to beach hunt...someday:biggrin:

Come on down Georgia Bryce and we'll dig a minnie ball or two.....when the snakes and yellow jackets aren't so active.

Barry,

Now that you abandoned us in the "Safari" forum I have to check out this one to see what you are finding :detecting:

I'm still interested in your opinions on the differences between the two machines, especially for relic hunting.

Later,

Tom,

As soon as I get some relic time in on the SE I'll let you know about it. I think I will be getting a pro coil for it. The SE came with the 10.5" Slimline. Got a bunch to learn.
