FIRST TIME OUT WITH SEA HUNTER MKII

First time out for 2010 with new machine, one kids ring, 1881 small cent, 1928 buffalo nickel,1944 mercury dime, 1963 rose. dime, 11 wheat cents, two junk earrings, and 4.75 in clad. Oh, about 60 pieces of steel, lol. tide was up so i did not get in the water with it so all i worked was the wet sand slops.I used only the standard mode with the elimination knob on 3 just to not pick up the foil, but i was still finding nickels at 15+ inches.I still have a lot to learn about this machine, but thanks to all that answered me for help,it gave me a head start. What i loved most of all about having a water machine, is that i now have the freedom to search anywhere on the beach i want, not just the dry sand.(Almost forgot,)i dig everything when learning a new machine and good thing, because i also found my first steel war nickel.I wonder how many of those i have missed over the years.

Alright!:bouncy:Looks like a great first day out with MKll:detecting:Congrats on the silver!:cheers:By the way, that "war nickel" is silver, my friend. War pennies are steel. That's great that you were pickin' up nickels at 15". That's a good indicator that you will get gold at that depth as well. Are you usin' the stock 8" mono search coil? Just curious. Sounds like you're off to a great start with that new machine. Best of luck to ya. Happy Hunting!:)

yes the 8" mono.:jump: your right made of silver alloy on that nickel. they all sound the same on the sea hunter for me right now. it just looked different from the other nickels. thanks!

Cut the disc. back to O or you will loose thin gold rings. Yea I know foil is a pain in the butt but
a gold ring is worth it. Dig everything that beeps at the beach and your way better off!

That pic looks like a scene out of one of those horror movies where some major catastrophe has just happened or is about to..

Really! Is that a space ship? What planet were you on John?

My only Garrett is the Sea Hunter, Mk II, and I have found some good stuff with it. The only time I raise the elimination a bit is when there is black sand swirling around in the water. Very little foil in the water, but on the beach you may want to try to eliminate some. However you will lose small gold, and still get iron. Use it a bit and make up your own mind what works for you.
