First time out yields 1890 seated dime

I posted a few weeks ago about buying a V3i and wanted to post my findings. I'm transitioning from an XL Pro to the V3i so I've had to adapt my hunting style from an analog signal
processing to a digital signal processing machine and getting used to "D" type coils. So far I'm really impressed with the new detector. I read the owners manual once, then the
advanced user guide, played with the controls, read the advanced guide again, thoroughly learned all the controls (time very well spent) and hit the yard around my house in the
default C&J mode. I found that mode to be too busy for my ears (way to many years searching in AM mode) and quickly changed to stereo mixed mode no tones and felt right at home.
I went to an old park that has been hunted for a long time and started searching a newer part of the park just to get a feel the new detector. This part of the park has many aluminum
cans buried deep (>12") and I saw lots of signs where people got that good quarter signal and tried to dig them up:laugh:.
I dug the usual clad quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies (the V3i is HOT on nickels). Came across a good hit at 7" ( pinpoint mode hit just a tad more at 2.5 kHz than 7.5 kHz) and dug
the 1890 seated dime at about 5 inches. The dime was a bit on edge so that probably accounts for the deeper reading. I wanted to post some pics but my digital camera is lousy at
taking macro pics as it doesn't focus well for real closeups (Canon powershot sx200). If I can figure it out I'll post a pic.
If anyone is curious I was running the standard C&J program, AM sens @60, DSC sens .@ 80, locktrac-OFF (ground balance as needed), AM S.A.T-OFF. So far really impressed
with this detector.

Glad to see posting finds. See if you can do photos.

Ok Rob, trying to post a pic. Not really into phtog but know you wanted more postings. This coin had no right to be where it was.
I figure it was a survivor of re-grading and bulldozing, but I'll take it. Thanks for your links they were great in helping me doing
research on the V3i.
And here's the other stuff.

Your success keeps us going.

Great report!

Nice save on the Seated Dime! It's always a treat to dig an unexpected goodie like that. I once dug a War of 1812 Regiment of Artillerists Button just a couple of inches from the sidewalk at my sisters 1915 circa house. You never know where surprising finds are going to pop out...kind of like the 4' rattlesnake that was in my driveway. But that's another story. Best of luck and ...

Happy Hunting!
