First Time Out

I got the 705 a couple of days ago. Been researching the forum looking for all kinds of information. I decided to go to my backyard and lay out an assortment of silver and clad coins, a necklace, an earring
and a token to see how different the tones and TID's would be. Trying to pay particular attention to the noise tones on different items. I used discrimination pattern 2. Got a lot of learning to do. Decided to do a little detecting in my backyard. Dug up a smashed coke can first thing. Came up as a strong 44. Guess I just need to get out and get some on the job training. There is so much information here on this forum that it'll keep me busy thru the winter and get ready for next spring.

I also got the 705 about a week ago and new to this hobby and the first thing i did was download Randy's (Diggers) free ebook on this detector. I'm about 1/2 way thru it now and have to say it is a "Must Read" as I have learned so much so far.(this is not the user manual you got with the 705)
Thanks Randy for that book.

Hey Don, I too was a flight engineer on the C130 for 10 years at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, in Columbus, Ohio with the Air Force Reserves. Also flew C141's and C-5's. Just retired Dec 09 after 30 years. I just started hunting today. Went to a local fishing pond. Didn't find anything. Had a couple of good hits, but couldn't find anything, then it started raining, so called it a day.

RogerC and JoeZ ............. I now pronounce you both HOOKED!

Welcome to the forum. As you begin to master your pinpoint sizing setting, you will begin to avoid those "sweet 44 signals" that you thought were a quarter but turned out to be a smashed pop can or rusted bottle top.

Hey, thanks everyone for the welcomes and encouragment. I've got all winter to read the forums, get good and familiar with the instruction manual and Diggers e-book. Looking forward to sharing with you all my experiences and reading everyone's help and advice here on the forum. Again, thanks everyone.
