Monte said:Hey, 'trkdrvr38', don't plan on buying an Omega in a couple of years. Just enjoy using your Teknetics Delta and finding all that you possibly can. If owning a model that provides you with automated Ground Grab and manual Ground Balance is that important or you feel it is really needed, then save what you can and set a 3-month goal to buy something newer. Either the Tek. Gamma or Omega will give you the same range of Discrimination and VDI adjustment, the same Tone ID choices, and functionally close to the same Sensitivity settings.
If the sites you hunt and the method of search you want is better served by them, just get one of the in short order. If you simply want to hunt for a year or two and save up to get one, well, there might be another new offering on the market by then, or you could move up to the more versatile T2. Maybe a little less Target ID, but the depth and performance and adjustment options are there as well as a great VDI read-out.
However, to be quite honest with you, many hobbyists don't really need a more featured detector model. If a high-performance 'basic' detector like the Teknetics Delta can get the job done at most sites, then it wouldn't hurt to simply put it to good use. Maybe add a smaller 5" coil for the very trashy sites, but just master the Delta. It's a very good detector.
