First treasure found after moving back to California

Hey folks!

Finally got a chance to get out this afternoon with the Safari for just a little less than an hour.

I found a really small newer park surrounded by a wooded section consisting of small but old oak trees near a creek, around which I chose to detect and not the park area. After finding a clad nickel and plain penny I ventured another twenty yards when I got a signal that showed a +35 value on my screen. I figured it was just another memorial but what the heck, ya never know, right?

Sure enough, I pulled up this antique silver ring from four inches. And the red stone may actually be a real ruby or garnet. I'll have to take it to the jewelers to find out for sure.

HH,

Ray

Garnet...

If Ruby it's a beauty and Pigeon Blood which is best quality..

Well, its a great first treasure in your new home. Good going Ray. Things are getting seasonal around here, time for winter encampment, its making ice now. I can't get into metal detecting in the cold, it takes the fun out of it for me. Time to clean up the finds and do some reading, take notes, and wait for Spring.

Thanks folks!

Hardtack, sorry to hear you have to put the detector away for a while. That would drive me nuts.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to have the stone on the ring checked out, and I'll get back to you all if it's genuine.
