Had the day off due to doctor appointment, so went out with the Tek4k this afternoon. Found half an old horseshoe, about 54 cents in change and some misc junk. Got home and looked at the coins to see what I had. Got the dirt off one of the cents and lo and behold it was a Wheatie. Looked closer and it was a 1909. Looked on the reverse and there was the VDB down there at the bottom. I quickly turned it back over hoping I had missed the "s" mintmark, but it was not there, but I am happy to have found a 1909VDB. It is in Very Good shape, but not quite a VG-8, so worth about $6.00.
Still not really impressed with some of the signals coming out of the 4000, but I will keep trying to fine tune it. I was running at about 10 sensitivity, with everything notched out but zinc on up, just to see what it would do on coins. Even in All Metal, it seems to signal good, but to me it seems to miss a lot of signals.
