Fisher 1270

I have a Fisher 1270, by far the greatest relic machine I have ever used but I do have a problem. The head is attached to the handle with 2 of the smallest screws I have ever seen except those used for eyeglasses and beating and banging around in the woods have just about stripped them out of the handle. The control box now moves around some. Has anyone else experienced this problem and can I replace the little screws with bigger ones or can I use something like silicon caulking to hold it in place. I hate to send it back to the factory to get it fixed 'cause I use 2-3 times a week...d2

You should be able to fix it with a couple of slightly larger self tapping screws. Those 2 small screws are in addition to a larger bolt that threads into a nut in the center of the handle, so unless that is missing for some weird reason you don't have to fear the control box seperating from the handle.
email me if you need to know how to seperate the control box halves to replace the screws.

Tom, guess what. There is not a bolt going thru the handle on my 1270. The head is just being held on by them 2 little screws. Should I send it back or can I fix it here at home?...Tim
