Fisher 75se ground balancing issue update

Well, it looks like the stock coil on the 75se is defective. I was on the phone with a Fisher tech for 45 minutes this morning. He had me run through some procedures and said the coil is definitely defective. I put on the 5 inch coil and it did the ground grab without any issues at all. Quite a nice little coil. I can see where it would work great in trashy areas. Detecting for awhile with this 5 inch coil left me with the impression that the 75se could be a great machine if you are not using a defective coil on it.
Looks like I will be stuck for the cost of a new stock coil because Fisher says it only honors the warranty from the orginal buyer. Edit ..

I noticed on the defective coil that I sent back, it didnt have any sealant around the little block behind where it connects to the rod. On my new one, it had sealant around it.

too bad about your coil check out the classified section on this forum you might get a good used one alot cheaper than a new one

Just remember to get permission to test and return for refund if the coil is bad. A lesson best learned second hand!

Yes, the coil was defective when I bought it. But she bought it new about a year ago and only used it twice. I talked to the store she bought it from. She is an older lady and I doubt very much she knew the coil was having issues. I can't hold her accountable. It may be the reason she gave up metal detecting, because the sounds from the defective coil was driving her nuts, and not being able to properly ground balance the the thing, she was probably only digging pull tabs and such. She didn't know it could be better. I've been metal detecting since 1975, starting with a White's Goldmaster, so I knew that something was going on with this unit that wasn't right. It is my 5th detector over the years, and hopefully my best, and maybe my last.
I sent the coil to Fisher today. If it can be determined that it is a factory defect, they will repair or replace it. Now I can only hope and wait to see what Fisher says.
And besides, I am of the philosophy that there are no warranties for used equipment. You pays your money and you takes your chances. That is, unless there was an obvious deception from the seller which in this case I definitely don't believe there is. Just a little old lady who only drove her detector to church and back on sundays.

Good attitude ramer. I had a bad coil on the origional f-75. It seemed to go after being submerged in water. It bump falsed constantly, drove me nuts. Fisher gave me a new one with sealant on the acsess panel.
