just bought a fisher f-2 3 coil package for intown construction lots and relic hunting hope this is a good machine any comments thanks hal

The best starter machine in it's price range. No lie.

I bought one last Sept. In 4 non winter months I found over $40 in clad, 3 silvers, 2 early 1800's Large 1c coins, and a few really cool relics.

Just moved up to a f70 and was considering selling the f2 to recoup some money but for the resale price I think I'm keeping it and laving the sniper on it for playgrounds and such and letting my son learn the hobby with it as well.

The thing that seperates it from other less expensive detectors (notice I didn't say cheap) is it's quick recovery speed..

G/L and happy hunting. :detecting:

Big Dawg, you made an excellent choice! I've heard nothing but great things about the F-2! I'm a new F5 owner, but tempted to buy an F2 for my wife.

Good luck, can't wait to see your finds!

F2 is great. I've got an omega too but the f2 is so easy to use and it will find treasures too !!!
Still use mine all the time.

The F2 in my mind is absolutely the best starter detector going.
Add in the value you get with the multiple coil packages and it just can't be beat.
Not only pleasant tones but VDI numbers and other info on that screen that is so helpful when you learn the language.
This is not just a beginner's unit, it seems to have some of the abilities of its more expensive cousins up-line that are much more expensive...but just costs less because you do not pay for as many whistles and bells.
I have gotten good with mine...very good, and this was only supposed to be a backup/take on vacation detector when I bought it.
Mine has found me somewhere in the vicinity of 8X's what I paid for it originally...probably more.

As far as the coils this is what I know.
The 8" seems to be the least desirable for my use because it seems to be affected by EMI more than the sniper coil or the 10" which I purchased last summer.
The 10" will get a little deeper than the 8", and you will get clearer signals on targets that are 5" or more in depth.
Where the 10" really shines is in moist ground...that is where you can really tell the depth difference between the two larger coils.

The sniper coil is actually my main coil that I use on the F2 because I tend to hunt parks and prefer to hunt trashy areas in those parks around picnic pavilions and volley ball and basketball courts.
What really shocked me was taking the sniper coil back to a few sites that I thought I cleaned up very well with the 8" and finding so much more it was like I never hunted them in the past.
Masking can be a bigger problem than most believe in trashy sites, the sniper is the best coil for this situation.

Since I mounted my sniper I have found 5 gold rings and several silver chains and a gold chain, too..
4 of these rings were in trash and at sites others have hit before including myself, one was in an open area in a park where the bigger coil would have been better choice but I was lucky enough to run my coil over this thing in that wide open area.

If you are 1/2 as happy with yours as I have become with mine you will be a very happy camper indeed.

PM me and I can put you onto a ton of information and tips when using this great little machine.

yep i agree with you all, the f2 is fun machine remember to start off with the sense low the first few times you use it let us know how you do hh
