Fisher F2 battery life question

Fisher F2 users - What kind of battery life are you experiencing from your detector? I used my F2 for just the second time today and it dropped a bar of battery life already. Is this normal for this unit? I'm using alkaline batteries as per the manufacturer's instructions. I am also always using headphones.

Once in awhile I drop a bar after just a couple of hours, but that is rare and I chalk it up to a bad or not fully charged battery.
Most of the time I go several hours before the first bar drops.
Usually I will change them when I get down to 1 bar, sometimes 2, but I have gone to the end a few times and I got several hunts and close to 20 hours out of them.

When they get real low I don't seem to lose a whole lot of depth, maybe I might but it is not real noticeable.
After I put new batteries in it sure gets louder, though.

Lately I have been getting 8 packs of Ray-o-vac batteries from my local Batteries Plus store.
The first two I put in I dropped a bar pretty fast, but every set after that seems to last and last before a bar drops off.

Man I run the f5 with energizers and without headphones and they are finally on two bars after well over 20 hours of use its amazing and the last couple of outtings when I first turn it on its back to three bars for a while:thumbup:
