If you have never used an F75, there WILL be a learning curve, but it get easier the more you use it. A lot of folks will tell you to start off mild, and then jack it up later, but I say learn it like you are going to use it.
2F tones will probably be your best bet, but if the targets are slim in any given area, mono tone is the way to go. LOTS better audio clarity in monotone than in 2F.
Also, the closer you creep to "0" disc the better. I have a site that produced a lot of indian cents (over 200), and it had quite a bit of iron. running 0 disc unmasked a lot of the targets I could not hear at all with a disc setting of 6. I confirmed this on a lot of targets before digging. At a disc of 6 they couldnt be heard at all, and at a disc setting of 0 they could not only be heard, they ID'd pretty dang well too.
IF your hunting relics, you'll want to hear everything you can hear. Iron relics are still relics!
Now, if your in REAL bad conductive soil (that nasty red stuff in central VA for instance), you'll likely have to run all metal most of the time. Keep in mind that If you choose All metal from one of the boost processes, ALL Metal will be "boosted" as well.
If its good dirt though, I'd be hunting in BP process, 2F tones (mono where conditions permit), 99 sens and 0 disc. BP will allow you to use a slightly slower swing speed, 2F will keep you from having to keep your eyes glued to the screen, 99 sens (where possible) will increase audio resolution, and 0 disc will maximize your depth and separation. Lotsa CW sites have been pounded over the years, and you'll need every advantage you can get. Like I said before, I'd LEARN the machine like you are going to run it. You'll either get it or you wont. Dig EVERYTHING you hear, at least for a month of so. Dont assume the target is crap. dig it up and SEE if its crap. After a while you'll see the correlations between the responses you getting and what your digging.
Be aware that BP mode will boost iron responses as well, but if you pay attention, you'll see how iron responds differently, in pinpointing, Fe304 meter readings, and sound. Dont assume that everything that initially sounds like iron IS iron though. The F75 will report some targets that are on the fringe of detection depth as iron, but that iron response will have a nice little "sweet spot" in the middle of it. 99% of thse targets are keepers. ignore the TID with these targets, and instead use that shovel. If your relic hunting, you simply want to hear the target. ID's may be iffy, especially if there are a lot of masking targets, and there usually are in CW sites, especially camps. learn to trust your brain and the audio.
