It's so nice to see a good report about First Texas. They actually, more often than not, give excellent service.
Every company has some issues. The important thing is FT takes care of the issues too.

That's good to hear, gman.

You see bad service complaints on the forums about different manufacturers, ever notice that quite often it is newbies who specifically join the forum to complain with their first post?

I don't blame anyone for complaining about legitimately bad service, but it's important for us to give a shout out when they do a good job too.

I'm not complaining but do have a problem that i don't think is quite right, i purchased a new f5 a month ago, when i received it i noticed that the unit was made 10 months ago and had the old push in connector, i called and emailed Fisher with responses that they no longer change the connectors over to screw type, finally i got a strange email saying they could replace the push in connector if it was giving me problems but no conversion.

I don't think that when buying a new detector you should get an old out dated model, i have gone up the line to the third supervisor with the same results, Funny with three GARRETS i have never had service problems.

The unit works great as long as you don't touch the cable where it pushes in, but as i told Fisher i want to purchase other coils and i don't want this problem down the road.

Digger 45 Its good of you to drop in and not complain about your F5
Fisher E mailed you saying thy could replace connector if there was a problem.
Why not take them up on it..

I see you picked up a F4 hope you enjoy it.

Don't wave the Garrett flag to high with the AT PRO coil problem, that thy[ will not admit to ]
but if you send it in thy will fix it but wont say what thy fixed.[Mighty big of them]

I have had the F5 since it came out with push in type connector and have the stock the 11 and the 5 and all have a rock solid connection. My new gb has the screw in type and the 5 will false when bumped but the 11 is fine .

Go figure

Bob

Having the push-in connector is not a defect, I never had any problem with the push-in connector on my F5.

I can't fault First Texas for not fixing something that isn't defective.

Digger, detector manufacturers make refinements to existing models all the time. The best thing to do if you want to get the most up-to-date features is before you buy, ask your dealer how long he has had the detector in stock.

With First Texas detectors, ask for the first 4 digits of the serial number since that is the month and year of manufacture.

I had the same problem whe I first got my F5. Called them and they gave me a pick up slip, sent it back they replaced the coil with the screw in conector. They said the coil wire was bad where it pushed in.
