Fisher to Tesoro

I read an earlier post of a Fisher user who is considering a Tesoro. He was recommended to visit a dealer and try out some models. I too am a Fisher user who is considering a Tesoro but I don't have a dealer nearby to try (Maui, Hawaii), so I have to research things on the web.
I have a Fisher C7a Pro that I use for coin and jewelry hunting in dry beach sand (I guess there is some wet sand several inches below) and on occasion in parks. I don't feel that I'm getting enough performance. I want something with more depth (presently I air test coins to only 8"), and something that is faster (I have to move the coil quite slowly to not miss a target). I was considering A Tesoro because of the lifetime warranty, and the Tejon model because I might be able to afford it and because it supposedly is a coin and jewelry hunter.
Could any of you offer your experiences,comments, and comparisons on the Tejon's performance, or any other model, used for the hunting I do. Thanks.

So, you want to go from TID, to non-TID? There are three detectors that would be similar in nature, the Tejon, the Vaquero, and the Cibola. The first two are manual GB, while the Cib. is preset. The first two are going to give you similar performances, while you may or may not have good results with the Cibola. I suppose it would depend if you stuck to just dry sand or not. The Tejon is supposed to be a tad bit hotter than the V or C, but it can get a little more chattery too. Good luck with your decision!!!

Many of us for some unknown reason are all sold on the depth perspective of detecting. The reality of it unless, you are in a farmers field, where the ground has been turned, then most items of value will be in the trash, whether this is iron, or current pop tabs, bottle caps and the like. Since you are going beach hunting, there are many good machines out there that can do what you want, but the question is- if you dig twenty deep holes, and out of those holes you only find perhaps 3 or 4 coins in the holes, how motivated will you be after all of that digging? Sure you can also find a ring in one of the "deep" holes but- the deeper you dig, the faster you will become tired, and your motivation level will decrease. All of the machines you mentioned, less the Cibola, should- "should" do very well. You might also want to consider a stingray or perhaps go with another MFR- but CONSIDER, depth doesn't always mean the good finds will be deep. After so many years of digging, I am finding that most of the finds are in the hardest soils to detect in and in the iron. Most of those items are less than 8" down. So keep this in mind and good luck with your choice.
