Florida beach find - ID wanted

Found on east central beach a week or two ago. Several specimens with the same look. About 8cm x 4cm. Thanks for any ideas

Florida is known for having fossilized remains of prehistoric land animals and sea creatures. We used to dig for them when visiting Fla back in the 70's. Wow, you need to purchase a fossil permit in Fla if you want to collect..............Fossil pictures link
 
Thank you both, seems anything can turn up on a Florida beach. So maybe this was ships ballast? There were several pieces washed up together. Who knows? Just found this shale? conglomerate? looking rock last week. Was mid beach, not washed down. Heavy so doubt one carried it around and dropped it.
