Sure is purdy!!!! Rare to get one this good around here anymore, also found some iron harness buckles all in a place in the woods where you could only see a few bricks scattered around......HH Mark

What coil did you use to find that button?

Where does that eagle button(with arrows & olive branches and an the letter "I" in the shield) come from, any story on the history of that particular button?
 
This particular button was a Union Army officers coat button, used from the 1850's up to the Spanish American War. This one is from 1860 by the backmark. Mark
 
That is a really nice one. I found a standard eagle about two weeks ago but not in near that good of shape.
 
Just with water and a tooth brush. The soil in the woods must have been good to it, most I find around in the hayfields are crushed and falling apart because of the lime they use to spread around here on the fields......Mark
