I am planting a bigger garden this year and will be canning more this year. Also, have seeds that when grown, can re-harvest seeds for next years planting. trying to grow as much of my own food as possible. Today shipping is depended so much on JIT (just in time) that any disruption in the supply chain can be a real problem in getting supplies to store shelves. We the people need to be more self sufficient in the coming years or months. I am not trying to scare anyone, just want to be prepared. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. On the positive side, if I grow most of my food, think of the money I save and the better tasting and quality of my vegetables and fruits.

and she said they just put them down stains with the rest of the boxes of candles.Well I'll tell ya they had just over 30 good size boxes full of candles[which it looked like they only used about a 1/2 hour]and put new ones up every time.I traded off some work for them.Ask your church to see if they do the same thing with theres.

......pretty darn good idea ! Read somewhere that some of the Mormon people in Canada anyway; store a years supply of non perishable staples. That would include grains, lots of oatmeal Ray , dried fruits, canned goods, you name it . Various seeds too but seeds may fail to germinate after a couple of years and should be updated. Old farmer trick is to test germination in a pie plate and very damp paper towels. Don't forget rolls of medium or heavier plastic; many uses including making solar stills for water. Candles, bullets, salt ( lots of salt..... meat and fish can be salt cured or smoked too) and don't forget the DUCT tape !
