For coin hunting F5 or Omega

Pretty close in abilities but the F5 is just a more solid constructed unit...am sure you could get arguments either way as many prefer either.

Mikes Hillis has a nice write up on the differences and is a good read and can be found if you search Mike Hillis on this forum.

Having owned and used both my F5 is my go to unit for local parks but of course opinions may differ...

I have both, and like them both....as pre-empted by Dan-Pa, I prefer the Omega, it is a bit lighter/better balanced, but I also enjoy using the F5 as well. Whichever one you choose, if you take time to learn it, you will do well. HH

I have both also and think they are equal as far as coin hunting is concerned. The F5 gives the impression of being more solid because the box is connected to the rod as opposed to being attached to the handle on the Omega, but in reality they're both well built. I never understand people talking about poor build quality of Fisher and Teknetics products. I don't use mine to cut brush, shovel snow, or as a pry bar, so they work fine. To me they're built as well as anything out there, and I've had many. Weight doesn't necessarily reflect build quality.
