for the ace 250 owners

what is the best and worst thing about the ace???

Boy that is gonna be different things to each person so you may wanna ask the question in a different way because the replies will be too varied to be of much use to you.
absolute bottom line as far a positive things go is that the Ace is an affordable unit without it being a piece of junk. That reply is pretty accurate but I bet it didn't help much huh?
The bad thing about the Ace is that you will probably not garner a lot of respect or envy from other detectorists, The Ace can be looked upon as a beginners unit due to its price and ease of operation. Kind of annoying having to defend you purchase from the snobs of the world.

The best thing about the 250 is economically powerful with great features. The worst thing about having the Ace 250 is you might be a little late to dinner from digging so many treasures.

It is an accurate machine, good depth, (in Florida anyway, non-mineralised soil) light, ergonomic, fairly easy to use but like all other detectors it has a learning curve. A fairly short curve if you ask me, compared to other machines with a lot of dirt collecting knobs on them. It is almost like Microsoft made a metal detector, it works, it works well, but it has its shortcomings, no volume control, and preset ground balancing, my biggest gripes so far. The pinpointing is fairly easy but so many factors affect that capability that the best is its a tool, not a magic wand. The magic comes in when you finally LEARN the machine, its sounds and the way the sounds behave tell you a lot about what is going on down there, time in the dirt, research, and thought are the best tools you can use. It is running circles around my friends $130.00 Radio Shack machine so far, it kicks my old Garrett S-1 (25 years old) behind. You just got to learn to read it

when the signal bounces around alot it is usually trash when it locks on it a good target dig it. u can spend hours digging trash if u want to trust what the detector is telling u. and pinpointing will tell u the shape of the target. strong large signals raise the coil up about 3,4,and 5 inches will let u now if its overloading the coil and its a can or other large piece of metal. the sniper coil is sweet i only use the sniper coil on my ace.
