For those of you that turn your nose up at detecting schoolyards, look at what I found.

Went detecting with a friend today, his first time. We went to a school I have detected at before, knew it would give up some goodies and wanted him to find some. I got the find of the day with this coin. It is a 1813 1 Reale silver coin from Mexico. Some kid must have brought it for show and tell, then lost it on the playground. It was six inches deep and under some trees. Nice to find something neat to show a new guy. The rest of the days take was 1 wheatie, some die cast cars, clad, brooch, zipper pulls and trash. This same schoolyard has also given up some other silver, wheaties and 2 rings. I will go back again.

now everyone will be in "our" sites :)
What a great find - one I have yet to get. A few months ago a guy here got one also in a school yard.

may not have been show and tell.....might be some history there!!!! research it!

Congrats on the old Coin found in a school yard! I liked hunting school yards and very seldom come away from them wiithout lots of coins or something nice! Like I have always said, the buildings may have not been there for years and years, but the soil has and ya never know what ya can find in the dirt besides trash, which is plenty on school grounds! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
