Called the Great Lakes Pilot-a tabloid-size magazine,2 bucks!!ALL KINDS of interesting things-PAST AND PRESENT of the Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula of Michigan.Just finished up an article in there that was talking about an old hermit that supposedly had a hidden gold mine up near Marquette somewhere. When he died, the place was torn apart by people looking for e jugs of gold he had hidden. The author went up there with his father lookin around...He got thirsty, and his father told him he could get a drink out of the covered well out back...when he leaned in almost upside down,he said he seen the tops of 3 jugs sticking out of the framework inside the well...tried to pull them out,but they "acted like they were very heavy, for some reason"... Didnt tell his dad about them-he was young, and forgot all about them...For more than 50 years. He said recently he came across an old article about the hermit;and suddenly it hit him-The gold HAD to be in them jugs in the well-THAT would explain why they were so heavy!!!NATURALLY;there is no trail to the hermits'cabin left, and he cant remember where it was,anyway......:sadwalk:
