Fors core depth

Anyone else have this issue? I am working with Dilek to figure it out, just wondering if others have the same issue. It is my understanding (from dilek) that the racer and core are calibrated the same...i don't understand why they do not function the same. I bought the fors core a year ago come April. The depth indicator seems to be WAY off. I understand it is in centimeters, not inches, but even so, the conversion isn't at all accurate. For example....of the 20 or so targets I dug today, at least 18 of them fell into the 28-33 centimeters range. That should be about 9" inches give or take I think. Not a single target was actually deeper than 3". The machine was ground balanced, there was nothing else in the hole, I was using the stock coil and all targets were clad ( I was only digging those targets i was confident were coins trying to figure this out). Is that likely a machine issue or a coil issue? I love the machine but the depth thing is really misleading.... Is there anything that can be done about the depth calibration? When i switch my racer to cm and run it over a target that is approximately 3 inches deep, it reads in the range of 7 to 8 cm....which is the correct conversion. If i then run my fors over the same target, at the same depth, it read 28-33 cm....obviously that is an issue.

mine always reads that way also. The only thing on the CoRe that I can say that sucks. However i don't use the meter much anyway...I go by the audio. Relic hunting depth meters are not much use unless used more to center the target by finding where the depth meter gives the shallowest reading.

But I have seen way way better meters than this one. Really is awful. I actually find the whole PP mode a bit sketchy. Could have been more thought out....from the sticky trigger and onward. Mine also will drop out while pinpointing. Normally I don't even pinpoint much unless there appears to be multiple targets under the coil. Yah not the best PP mode going in it's price point.

But the rest of the machine is decent..not great but decent for the money. The whole bunching of targets in the 82 range is another gaff but again..relic hunting not so much of an issue.

Yep. The only value I have found for the depth meter is pinpointing - when you get the smallest number display (in pinpoint) you have pinpointed the target. Also, just as a relative depth indicator - less than 20 is usually 3" or less. On a penny, more than 20 is deeper than 3". My understanding is that some of this problem is due to the fact that the Fors CoRe depth meter is calibrated to the euro, not to US coins. Maybe this has been addressed on the Fors Relic?

The Racer and the CoRe are calibrated for the same size coin (1'' in diameter).
There may be a difference between the 2 readings due to hardware gains used as well as the frequency.
However, we would like to see a video so we can verify there is not an issue.
Can you send it to dilek@noktadetectors.com?
If the file is too big to email, please send it via wetransfer.com

Update on this?
Was this solved in the new relic?
