forum water/beach hunt?????

anyone interested in meeting at east harbor state park, lake Erie, Ohio.(google it) as soon as we think its warm enough to hunt in the water????????
the beach there is huge, and slam packed from June to September and probably crowded right now.. water is mostly about waist deep from what i have seen. even though it gets hunted hard I'm sure there's plenty still there from last season. the state park also has a campground so if ya got a tent or a trailer you re good. you guys from Michigan should be able to make it ??

I was planning the forum hunt at Lake Michigan so guys could water hunt, beach hunt, or old park hunt! :)
But count me in for your dig too! :)

There are two permits. One for metal detecting-land and one for salvage-water. They are only available from the park manager of each park. They are free or at least last year they were. They are NOT available through the state though. I'm sure Michigan has some similar regulations. East Harbor State
Park is within driving distance of Cedar Point amusement park- one of the largest in the nation, the Cleveland zoo, the Toledo zoo and a little further, the Columbus zoo-2nd largest in the nation, the Cleveland Indians, Toledo Mudhens-minor league baseball, further away the Detroit Tigers, Put-in-Bay island-small shops and Historical places, Marion, Ohio-home of President Warren G. Harding, Fremont, Ohio-home of President Rutherford B. Hayes. The whole family can have something to do.
 
The only permits are a few areas like Detroit parks.
 
"Use of metal detectors is allowed on the sandy portion of the beach area at any of our state park beaches. Written permission must be obtained from the park manager at the park of your choice to use a metal detector in any other park area."

paul, this is from the odnr website. let me know where you got your info so i can check it out.
 
I would love to join you guys. I just ordered a new water detector but it wont be in for 3 weeks or so as they are on backorder. I get every other weekend off from work and my GF so i would be up for camping out on the weekends. I live right on the Ohio line in western, Pa so it would be a few hour drive for me. But, it sounds like a great spot. What about the beaches around cedar point, does anyone know if you can fill out a permit to detect there? Keep me updated, thanks.:cheers:
