Went back for a few more hours this afternoon. Signals few and far between. Got 2 barbers, one a pretty good one I think. 1899o in I would guesstimate XF. Of course being dug will knock it down a little unless I could get some more dirt off. But I am afraid to clean it any more than I have. Soap and water and no rubbing. Would like to clean it more and slap her on ebay. Don't know yet if I will.
The pictures aren't really as good as the coin is but my batteries are about dead so I used these. Might take better ones later.

They don't get any sharper than that Ric, what you need is a ultra-sonic jewelry cleaner, the sound waves in the water make all that dirt go poof in a cloud without touching the patina.
Look at some coins you think are really clean under a microscope, you will see plenty of dirt still packed into the details, the sonic cleaners get rid of that and the coin will look even sharper. Obviously test this on some common silver.
Don't use one on very thin silver like 3 cent peices and don't use it on copper as they can chip off the green gunk. In other words only use it on a sound coin.
 
Would love to get a good one. I am like you when it comes to stuff like that. I won't buy a cheap one even if I have the money. I want a good one like a branson or something. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> I need to look again. When I was looking I would always find one on ebay I thought I could get then it would jump at the end. It would definitely be a wise investment. The wheat pennys alone I have laying around still covered with dirt from years ago would probably pay for one. <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
 
This is a much nicer version of my Sharper Image UJC with a buy it now price of less than half of retail. Don't think you will find a better deal than that.
I don't think you will be happy with the results of cleaning wheats with it though, these UJC's will knock off the loose dirt but won't clean away crusty copper crud, they WILL crack the edges off more corroded IH's.
A less destructive method of cleaning the wheats than a rock tumbler are the vibratory brass cleaners reloaders use. You can get one of those pretty cheap these days too, well under $100 bucks. I ordered one a while back from Midway.com
 
What kind of a site is it or if you tell will it give it away??
 
One of the big older brick houses left in town. It was a pain to get permission. I was turned down a few years ago but tried again and they reluctantly said ok this time. I am not digging a lot of iffy hits that I should. You would know the house if you saw it. He!!, I think you hunted it. <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
 
Yes if the first and last names end with an N. I found a lot of nice ones there but none that nice! Of course I hunted it back in the late 70s or early 80s with the White's and not the Explorer. I remember getting at least one barber dime from there!
