found a cool old place to detect.......check out these pics :thumbup:

went there for a bit today after I got permission, the field right in front of the house is the most iron infested field I have ever stepped into, it is gonna be real tough. I found three coins today and each time I figured for SURE they'd be indians from the looks of this place it is OLD, but not to be, all 3 were wheats. 1919s, 1918, and 1942 ! I am not sure how I am gonna tackle this place, I have never encountered so heavy of iron, makes me think maybe there was another barn or something else in front of the house that has been torn down and spread around.

All I can do is use my smallest coil and just go at a snails pace. I know there has to be an indian or two somewhere on this property!

Nice pic's , have fun hunting that place. What is the price on scrap iron around you? Maybe you can make some extra gas money with your iron finds. Just a thought.

where would people hide money at in a place like this? I took my detector inside and ran it around the floors and walls etc...any ideas where someone might have hid something and forgot about t, or maybe passed away and never told anyone where it was hid?
 
Nice pics goes4ever and keep looking and you just might find something great, but you may have to clean the iron out first, as too much iron nulls out the silver and coins! Post holes, flower beds, chimneys, rocks, out houses, under porches are places people used to hide their money....also cellar floors or smoke houses and such! Just gotta check most places and see if anything was left to find! Have fun and good luck on the finds! :) God Bless!
 
They are some of the toughest placest to hunt. High grass/weeds, trash and iron. You did well to grab those three coins.
There are likely more goodies.
 
Mike, the coins were in the field in front, I have not hunted the grass yet, there is only about 10 feet of grass then it is field in front
 
I've heard that old homesteaders would put their treasures by a fencepost, or tree they could see from their most commonly looked out window. And that property is SURE to have had an outhouse AND a trash heap! Both are usually down-wind from the house.
 
Mike I'd love to, but in all honestly, I am NOT exaggerating when I say this place is the most iron infested field I have ever detected, you get three to four iron hits in EVERY single swing, I am trying to dig the big stuff, but it is overwhelming not sure how much longer I am gonna keep trying here.
 
Looks like it could be a productive spot. I know what you mean about iron infested. It can be annoying at times. I have a 5 gallon bucket that I throw all my scrap iron objects in and take it to the local salvage yard. A few bucks here and there, but it all adds up.
 
went back today, found another wheat 1920D, a play dime......I thought I had a silver! a big spoon, suspender clip, buckle, couple glass buttons
