Been spending a lot of time looking for a camp so I have not dug a whole lot lately. So I decided to hit an old spot that always produces relics for me. It was nice to dig! The 1st pic is of the bullets. The carved on the top right is what looks like a chess pawn.

Next is the brass. The NY coat still has thread on the shank. Anyone seen the brass strap before? It has some gilt showing on it. I know I have seen the brass disk piece with the hole in the center(bottom right) somewhere.

The piece in the next two pics has me puzzled. It is made of thin brass and is covered in very detailed ornate drawings. It looks like it has been folded up and it was covered with gilt. The current diameter of the piece is about the same as the NY button. Anyone seen anything like it?

The Backside.

The brass piece on the bottom looks like it has "waterbury" embossed on it......Aaron

looking at that. I did not realize it untill I was reviewing the my post. I will try to clean that area some more but the piece is very fragile.
Thanks and HH
John

Hi John; the strap is an enlistedman's belt keeper. The "teeth" were pounded through the inside of his leather accoutrement belt and folded over. The brass came over the front side about 1/2" on top and bottom. This held the tag end of his belt nice and flat. Similar to how belt loops work for us today. Nice finds, David @ Dixie

could the bottom pic be one of these, when i found this peice it was folded up and un identifiable, and i was surprised to see a picture frame when i straightened it up. found at H-town. Have a great day and HH......................................Ed

The only thing throwing me off is the word waterbury on there.

Can't wait until fall gets here! It will be nice to hunt deep in the woods without worrying about catching lyme disease! Great finds John!!!

The brass bits are indeed the remains of a frame that once held a tintype or daguerreotype. HH!
