Hit that colonial park again for a little bit this morning. Found two flat buttons right away but no coins. I went back to an area where I picked up an IH not too long ago. Found my first shield nickle, very deep, and barely audible. It's in nasty shape, but I'll take it. The other side is even worse (no date) although it's between 1866 and 1883

That is an oldie. Those old ones are hard to hear as you say - if it cleans up post the pic, Steve in so az
 
Love them shield nickels! I don't think I got one this year yet! :) Congrats!
