live in a 1850,s brick farmhouse..17 acres..scratched about 5 bucks worth of clad and a crapload of iron from the yard..slowly getting the yard cleaned up got out the v3i yesterday just goofing around found a clad qtr and 2 mem cents..then found a large brass key under a bush in the side yard//pretty cool ..dug a 1913 wheatie by the road 13in deep and a old pocket knife..the dug a +4 foot buggy steel rim in the front yard 15 in deep.about 3 weeks ago .so far no silver, no treasures but as I get used to the v3i im finding more stuff..and its deep...best find was at another site a very nice 1887IH that looked uncirculated.digging lots of trash but still looking for the mason jar full of goodies..maple tree is very old and roots are hiding lots of hits I cant get to..gonna modify the programs to not accept vdi on most of the negative numbers...and try that...a v3i for ur first detector is a big learning curve but fun..got bunches of sites to hit yet//having fun..Gregg in nw ohio

NW Ohio has some old dirt! Tough digging in the clay there right? Or are you in some deep black? Either way, thats some nice finds and your spot sounds like it has some potential for old silver. I grew up over by Swanton, lots of fossils around there I remember in the clay banks we would find them when we were kids.
