Found a possible unhunted part of the park. What settings would you use here...

Hello everyone - Was riding my bike around last night and found a spot with at least 50 pull tabs right on the surface of the ground. Pulled out the etrac and bam - wheatie! Could only spend a half hour there but managed to pull 26 wheats and 3 dimes all about 1-2" deep.

How would you guys clean this area up? stock coil first, then go through with sniper coil? What expert settings would you use? Like I said - it is SUPER trashy here. Thanks!

open the screen up discrim out 1.1 to 1.37 and 1.49 and 1,50 put it into two tone ferrous and just dig every high pitch two way signal as you have very little discrim on the good signals come through loud and clear it is the perfect programe for a trashy area oh and ground difficult trash density high turn the threshold level down to 0 so there is no background hum it makes it so much easier on the ears when the sounds start coming through i have just dug some nice roman coins using this method WHOOOOPEE

TTF would probably NOT be good in that spot with all the modern trash. I would use regular coin or andy's coin programme in auto. That will do the trick. Slow and low with stock coil till you either wear your arm or the ground out, and then its time to move on to the sniper coil where you will go as slow if not slower than before. Good luck, and be sure to post all your goodies!!

As what etracjoe said, TTF would be about the worst thing you could do in an area full of tabs, TTF is to avoid ferrous (iron) objects, tabs will ring up the exact same as everything else. Pretty much what etracjoe said entirely, is what I'd do.

Sounds like you found an undetected site! Great news!! Go very slow.

Small coil, only discriminate out the iron.

Good luck!

Small coil ,conductive, disc set high for only good coins,no nickels, and cherry pick that spot before someone else finds out about that spot and enjoy the gravy.

Hey Gimmie,

I definately know the parks that have been hunted before and if you can PM me the park you are talking about, I would be more than willing to tell you if it's been hunted or not  NO REALLY!! Congrats on finds and the park as well.

Good luck and post all finds,

Moose

Like others said above TTF is not good with all those pulltabs they will be high tone signals.
May I suggest looking at BILL_S trashy park pattern on forum posts on here and some of his videos and finds on here and others are trying it and having great results too. The Etrac works just as well with lots of discrimination. He's got it set for nickles and coins. I got it loaded in mine for just such a spot to use it.

You could always carry a rake and rake the surface clean maybe a small area at a time then go hunt. That way if someone else finds the same spot they won't cause of the trash there where you haven't raked yet leaving it all for you!!

I would probably go wide open at first covering things very slowly. I would also hit at least the hot sots there in more than one direction.

Go to high disc cherry pick location before anyone else finds out or park person kicks you out because it is restricted for some dumb reason then work it as posts above suggest.

Thanks for the tips everyone... I couldn't wait for the weekend so I headed out tonight with my headlamp on and longjohns. I tried out a friend's sniper coil to try to dodge some of the junk. I ran it in coin mode with the upper right opened up. As you can tell, I dug up as many pull tabs as I could hoping to clear out the area and expose any nice coins below. Spent 4 hours here and ended up with $10 in clad. Highlights are the 6 wheats, a '42S silver nickel, a buffalo nickel that I can't really read but think it says 19*5, and also a sac dollar. Hard to beleive that with over 30 wheats pulled out of this spot that I can only find a few silvers... oh well. This nickel puts me at 52 silver coins for the year.

HH!
