Found a rock! Coal??

Found this the other day on the swim/beach area at the lake. After some testing it hits on the 3rd notch- 1st notch on the jewelry mode, so the good news is I can get rid of it. I need to collect more and see if they all hit at the same place on the notch. Bad news is hunting at the beach w/ 3rd notch out will yield less foil/jewelry targets, No GB so I can't tune it out  Come on :garrett: help a hunter out!!

Do you think its coal.
Plenty of these on the beach or few and far between ?
Not sure what you can do about where they sound.
It may be a case of digging them with the rest of the goodies to get the good stuff.
Perhaps some one may chime in with suggestions.

I have never seen such a thing. Is this saltwater beach?:garrett:

Nope, Lake Michigan. There's quite a bit of it on the beach prob more in the water. It can be notched out so it's not a total bust.

It's coal, I have dug up plenty of them. Save them and pass them out at Christmas

Can you GB em out?? Also does an auto-tracking machine get rid of them or a PI unit? Might make water hunting interesting? Esp using my BHID in AM mode. I'm hoping I can GB em out. Any way to combat em?

Found a lot of coal with different makes and models of detectors over the years and most all of it gives a nice Id and tone. Emailed Garrett about it one time and their response was to raise the coil a few inches above the ground.

Oh, I've found a few of those in my day.:lmfao: You might be able to GB it out. Good luck. The Infinium would just ignore it. Happy Hunting!

Oh yeah, like Uncle Willy was sayin', the Scorpion does have a "TR discrimination" mode for identifying hot rocks and checkin' ore samples. Works great. Just thought I'd add that before I turn in. Happy hunting!
