I got out for a short hunt this morning to my favorite "hunted-out" park. After just a little clad, my last dig of the day held a few surprises. Just before turning off my machine to end the hunt, I got a really sweet silver-sounding signal, but it was VERY shallow. Expecting just a good-sounding clad dime or perhaps a small silver ring, I just located the target with my Pro-Pointer and then popped it out -- and imagine my surprise in seeing a silver dime! A closer look revealed not only silver, but a Barber dime -- a 1906-O.

After getting home and checking my "red book," I got surprise number two -- the '06-O is a semi-key date. While the obverse of this coin is not in quite as good of shape as the reverse, I think the coin would grade a solid F-12, which in that condition is worth roughly $50. Though I don't sell any of my coin finds, it's still neat to dig a more valuable than normal coin -- especially from 1/2" deep! I have no idea how that coin ended up so shallow, and how it got missed...
Thanks for looking!

It does make you wonder how it got missed by other people and not being very deep. HH.
