Found a Silver Ring with my new Safari on first day out

Inside the ring: William A. Rogers, Oneida LTD
Coin & Jewelry, ID #20

I don't think it's worth very much, but it's interesting that I found my
first Ring on my first day with my new Safari. Found some clad dimes
quarters and pennys also. I like this Safari already.

Zadok2,

Yes, I tested a 6 grain gold sample with the Safari with very little response.
It almost has to touch the 11"DD coil before I can get a reading. I believe a 5" or 6"
DD coil will work better. Most of the time the smaller coils will detect gold.
Unfortunately, I don't have a smaller coil.
A larger nugget will probably work with the 11"DD coil. It does great on gold jewelry.

Soon, I will have to buy a smaller coil because of the junky fresh water beaches around here.
I don't know which one to buy. Minelab's smallest is a 8". Other company's carry 5",6", etc.
Minelab warns if there is a problem with the Safari and it's related to a different company's
coil, it could void the warranty.
I would like to buy a 5" or 6" coil but I don't want to void the warranty.
What does anyone think about this situation?

I've got a Sun-Ray X-5 that really works well. The X-12 is amazing but you don't want to use it in trashy areas. The X-8 is one most people like and the Sun-Ray coils and probes won't void your warranty. Get used to that Pro-Coil it seperates very well in trash. Be patient and your finds will buy you a new coil. Set that Safari in high trash and make sure nothing is under the coil when you noise cancel you'll find those targets. HH :minelab:
