Found a super cool Horseshoe shaped lock

a buddy of mine and I traveled south to hunt some old houses. At the first place I got the 1918D wheat, superb shape, don't get much better dug than that. Also found the little red pin, and the button with the pearl colored stone...........

onto second place, I got a 3 penny spill, 2 wheats, 1924, and 1913, and a 1900 injun. One wheat was right ontop of the injun so it is green on the back and almost shiny brown on the face. Also dug the ugly faced dog in the plastic dome........have no clue what it is??

place 3 all I got was one item and it was the find of the day for me, super cool "Good Luck" horseshoe shaped lock. It was pretty corroded and cleaned up pretty decent. I am real happy with that find.

Congrats and I really like that Good Luck Horse Show shaped lock.....really a neat find! Is the plastic dome with the pic of the dog heavy? If it were glass I would say it is a paper weight! I have an old glass one with my step-grandfather's pic in it! I like paper weights and most oddities! That lock is an oddity! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

yep it is glass but not very big, don't think it would be a paper weight, it is probably only an oz. or 2. It is only a lil bigger diameter than a quarter

Wow, that is really small for an object to contain a picture! Locks are neat relics also to find! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

I have a friend that collect them. I will see what he can tell us. The dog thing looks like a Star Wars Character.

on google I found the lock is around 1870, the house i dug it from was dated on the front 1850, so 1870 is about right

and here is one on ebay

Hi Terry; That glass domed dog piece could be Star Wars Memerobalia Piece. The picture looks like Chewbaca. Just a thought on that. It may be silveer plated. Are there an markings or numbers on it??? That would help you ID it. Also that Red piece "appears" to be a "Bakelite" brooch or button type piece. If it s Bakelit then it is worth some bucks ok. Bakelite is very collectible today. I hope this helps. PEACE:RONB

chewbaca is brown, this dog/creature is white. There are no markings whatsover. Th red piece has glass stones

Glass stones or not SOME costume jewlery is worth more than gold.

Hey the lock and the key... The key looking thing, does it have a hole and a pushbutton in the side? That is what it looks like from here. The lock, did you pick the lock to open it or do you have a key that fits it? That would be way cool if you had a key for it.

the lock was open in that position, I have not been able to get it to move yet, I keep spraying oil into it hoping it will free up. And yes the key thing has like a button on the side.

Now why would a "key looking kinda thing" have a button on it? Are there any hints and is it actually a key? That poor old lock has probaly got gunk so far up in the workings could take some time to get cleaned out.

Now you got to find a key, very cool.
