Found about 8" down no idea what it is

Acually there was alot of different household tools made of iron of this style in the latter half of the 1800s such as coffee grinders,meat grinders,cherry pitters, tobacco cutters etc etc... i suspect that is part of one of these items...
 
Thanks for taking the time to reply! It's definitely interesting. The base has holes and one screw left like it was attached to something. Maybe a pedal for the tractor as was mentioned earlier or it was used to mount to a wall and hold up and appliance like you said. I don't know I still think it's a complete blast to dig up something like this even though I have no idea what it was originally. I still have yet to find a cool coin but I know that will be a rush too.
