Found a silver dime the other day in an area I had hunted many times in the past.

Today I went back to this park and tried some new settings using disc AND notch which is rare for me.
I am a jewelry hunter so using lots of disc is foreign to me but if I want to become a well rounded hunter, an older coin and silver hunter, I gotta embrace a different way of thinking.
Settings were sense at 80, mono tone, thresh at -2, SL speed, disc at 10 to knock out most if the iron and I notched out all the tab section because I didn't want too deal with them today.
Worked pretty good, picked up some clad here and there and then I got tired of dealing with another kind of trash at this park, s few on caps.
Most of them came in at the high 50's-mid 60's so I decided to knock zinc out also on the F70.
For the heck of it I raised the disc up to 15 and got rid of iron, too, then I switched the tone to 3H.
Now this was nothing like the settings I started with but it was super quiet and I stopped looking at the screen so much and just listened for the good tone.
I hoped I could still get decent depth with these settings most older stuff around here seems to settle at about 6"and I thought I could still hit that mark.
When I wandered back to the area near where I found that merc I discovered I could still hit that level easily.
On this one it was jumpy like most deeper targets are in this soil but the tone was solid, loud and sweet.
The depth reading said 6" so I was hopeful, when I dug down and popped it up I knew it was silver and I was happy.
Pretty weird settings today but still good enough to find gold at foil or nickel and just right for finding silver, evidently.
I might try this again soon.
