Found me a large cent today. She is worn and ugly but I like her.

Found this at a one room school site that I have been to before. Was surprised to pop this outta the ground. It gave a whisper of a signal and was pretty deep. Wish I could get a date off from her but it looks like the front was pretty worn when lost. The back is in pretty nice condition. I have been helping a guy down the road learn this cool hobby so I have been getting out more than normal. It has been paying off. Fun stuff.

dug me tow o' those ladies this spring in the woods next to my house, a '27 and a '26.
My DFX was broke when i did and now it's fixed and workin new. I can't wait to git back into the woods(after the wild roses die off from the cold)
and hopefully pull another from the dirt.

the eaqerlier versions of the coronet had the head leaning forward verses upright....so this is definately in the 43-57 year range. Last style of the large cent before they went to the small cents...which the Flying Eagle cent was the first version of the small cent

Ran a string threw their coins and kept them tied together inside their jackets if I remember correctly. They did not trust pockets so they holed em and tied em together to keep em safe. Must have worked as i find only a few holed coins but tons of non holed coins.....or is that considered anecdotal..?
