Well Brendan from Tnet took me to a place that I've actually been eyeing... I've got the map; just didn't know how to get in or if it was legal. Anyway it's big and it's old.

Hunting woods and fields takes some patience and we definitely had that. Targets are few and far between but when the area is old, ya never know. Of course I forgot to take my camera with me so I can only post the better of what I picked up...

This looks to be a buckle for something small, like suspenders

This here is a definite "whatsit?". I know I've seen this type of thing posted around but can't recall what it is. It's not very heavy and about the size of a dime. I think it's too big to be a button and it doesn't appear to be a bell. Who knows?

It was getting late, so I was walking and swinging briskly while on my way to tell "B" I was ready to go. All of a sudden, I get this really sweet (but pretty shallow) hit. Dug my plug, reached in and found this '09 Barber quarter at about 3". Made my day. Needless to say, I stayed about an hour and a half longer

I had this posted on Tnet and one guy though it was a Zouvae CW uniform button but looking at them, this is different (and there's no backmark). Someone else wrote me and said the ball buttons were used for civillians all the time. I was waiting on you to confirm it

Yeah is was a real nice day. Not too cold and the ground wasn't frozen. However, the field grass was compacted down with the last snow and real tough to cut through. Didn't have a shovel so I bought a cheapie folding type at the army / navy store the day before. Dug 3 holes with it and it snapped in half Gonna order one of those predator diggers, I think its the shark (merry christmas joe). I'm also going to have to look into another big coil. My sunray 12" died There are certain areas of this place where a big coil would be great for the depth and coverage.

The place we hunted is huge. If you just had this place to hunt, you could hunt there for the rest of your life

the Zouvae looked like that, but I can't see all of it. My first thought was ball button. As for the best shovel from Predator, all of us relice hunters use the relic pro! Ya cant hunrt that one!

congrats on the finds. That unknown weight...hard to say. If it would have been around water like a river or lake I'd have guessed a weight for a trot line (string with lots of hooks added and tossed out at night and brought back to shore at night).

Being in the woods or field, if it had a point to it I'd have figured it to be part of a plum bob. Used at the end of a string to be perpendicular to the ground. My step-dad used plumb-bobs when doing bricklaying...helped to keep the bricks even at the end of each row...quality control. Assessayers (?) used to use the pointy ones for surveying land. Now they use GPS and lasers.

Maybe someone else will know what that weight is for.
