Found my first gold ring.

Congratulations. not on a first gold ring, but a fantastic one too! 18K is well sought after. Garrett is always looking for great finds, with great photos with stories to put in their Garrett Catalog and SEARCHER NEWSLETTER. For getting your photos/story in, click below. :)

Congrats:thumbup: Not only a first gold ring but a beauty of a ring. Nice. Have you checked to see if those are real diamonds?

Awesome ring!!! Congrats!!!

When I found my 18k ring, it came up as a penny. Did it come up the same for you?

Hi David,
That's a real cracker of a ring, a great first ring.
I'm sure it's only the first of many.
If you were'n't addicted before, I bet you are now. Congrats.

Nice ring find ..Congratulations..

Now that's one honking pee-your-pants ring. Congrats bud. Did you do the Garrett shuffle when you dug that up? :)

The ring sounded off as a penny and was about 4 inches in the dry sand. Inside the ring it has 750 which i found out to be a european measurement for gold for 75% gold or 18k. As far as the stone i am not sure if it is real or fake i will have to take it and get it tested. I did find $7.32 in clad coins and a sterling silver necklace not a bad day for 4 hours at the beach.

Yea, my 18k sounded off as a penny, and my 14k sounded off as a nickel. I want to find somebody with a 10k, 22k, 24k, and a platinium rings to see where they sound off at.

What a cracker! If the mounting is 18k, you can almost bet it's a diamond. Take it to a pawn shop or jeweler and have it tested. Is one of the side stones missing? Amazing find! Makes me want to go out right now!

Chris

Yes one of small stones on the right of the pic is missing. The ring weighs 14.67 grams with the stones in it. I am going to try to find out this week if the stones are real or not.

Holy smokes! That is some chunk of gold! Talk about paying for your detecor with one find. I will be shocked if it is not a diamond. Who would put a synthetic stone in a $300-$400 (probably more) setting?

I want one!

Chris

Don't forget the mass and size or configuration of the ring will also change where it rings up. My three best gold finds all rang up on notches 5.5 on my 2500 (they air test a bit differently) and they were all different purities of gold. 14k, 9.5g, large mans signet ring, US Gold $2.50 piece in bezel, 22k gold ladies band. Here is an old post of mine from January when I must have been itching to get out detecting. Very unscientific but interesting, I think.
