I got permission to hunt my sister-in-laws yard and went today. I have to say this has been the best day yet detecting. I found a handful of wheaties, 5 indian heads, a merc dime and a 1844 Victoria Silver Crown (28 grams of silver). I want to post pictures but want to do before and afters. Indian heads are pretty crusty and need some tips on cleaning them up. Please help!

Congratulations on your first indians. Sounds like you hit a mine.:clapping:

Ya should have called! Dude that is great! If the Indians have heavy crust, the best deal is soaking in olive oil. Then picking with a tooth pick.
Can't wait to see the digs! I even drove through that town and kinda looked for ya. Call me I am still up.

Congrats on all the oldie finds.....ya sure did good :detecting: your sister-in-law's yard! Probably more to find there!! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

If you get to aggressive you MAY flake off a layer of the patina. You may not be able to help that though. Take your time and work at it over time and see what works for which coins and in what condition. That first Indian was awsome for me, bet you were stoked.
