With several outings under my belt, I've found some interesting relics. Last week, I uncovered a very rusted 2 blade pocket knife and a whatzit? Both items have been through electrolysis to clean them up a bit. The whatzit--looks like a cheese slicer--although I don't think the "technology" is timely. Could it be part of a door knocker--doesn't look big enough? The item appears to be forged vs. cast. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm guessing it was attached to leather. It could be the end of a razor strop or off of a piece of horse equipment.

i think you are on the right track. i have seen things kind of similar that show some kind of leather accessory in tightening up straps etc; will be meeting with a local historical association later this month--maybe they will have a few thoughts.
