Not sure what we found here but if someone has ANY IDEA, that would be great to know. Found in Ct, Rochambeau time in Ct

It is just about 12 inches long by 6 to 8 inches wide. Heavy metal. Would love to find out what this is. ROCHAMBEAU ERA in CT. We think it was Civil war times. Not sure what was used as tools, or shields they would carry into war on a long sticik?

I will try to get the size Monday. Not sure how to get the crud off of it..Sort of afraid to do it...it is brittle in place. Thanks. Seems like a good bunch of folk

Welcome to the forum!:wave:This is a wonderful community and a great place to share info.:garrett:I haven't got a clue as to what your find is. Have you tried the "Whatzit" forum? I'd ask there. Good luck. Happy Hunting!:)

Looks like a turtle to me. Is that a post on the back that may be for a screw, like for a attaching it to something as a decoration.

Jeff

I agree about posting it in the "Whatzit" section. And the size would be helpful.
I'd see if anyone can provide some info first, then look into cleaning. There are different methods for cleaning - run a search on it using the search feature as this has been a topic many times, so I don't go and get redundant.
Any good area that pops a nice find deserves going back for more.

Send a photo to Antiques Roadshow. I believe they can identify or refer you to someone who can identify this object. Good luck.
