Ft. Lauderdale Beach near a concrete wall while we were heading for the car to go home in 1984! The beaches close at midnight! Didn't even know what was found until we got home and looked at it! I thought it was a dollar coin, hopefully silver, but it does have a gold bezel and rim surrounding it! One of my nicer finds! Since ST. Patrick's Day is almost here, I thought I would post a pic of it!

Thanks Greg! I guess the special ones can be remembered where found and when! Most, unless written down in a notebook, I wouldn't be able to recall what, where or when I found them! The memory begins to fail when getting older and really fails when definitely older!

To you newbies, try to keep track of your finds by writing them down with date, place and weather and soil conditions, as it will help you to know when you do the best, good or worst by understanding the conditions of weather and soil!

I liked the Spring time for the warmth and moist soil, while the FAll is very good too, when the weather is some cooler (Not the hot, humidity of Summer) and the soil is not too wet, but moist and softer for digging....better to recover your holes and make the dug spot look neater! Summer conditions of dryness and hot weather make for brown areas....even when being careful also too wet ground is difficult to fix back like it was! Guess bottles of water carried along for drinking and watering would help, but would take many for those who do a lot of hunting and digging! Well, I said I was long-winded! Hee, Hee! God Bless! Betty

in Terrytown, Louisiana. Someone must have treasured that. I once had an Alcoholics Anonymous coin that meant a lot to me and went to a jeweler to get a holder, similar to what you have there, and it cost me if I remember right about $10 (maybe more) for the holder - without a chain.

Congrats Betty on that find.

Thank ya all for your posts to my Irish Medallion....I don't have it handy to see what the date is nor my eyes don't see so well, soooo if it is 1952....that is great, for it is older than 50 years....an antique like me!

Also being of Irish heritage myself, I cherish it that way, too! I love to hear the Irish songs and music...they make my heart sad at times, but I think it is because my ancesters came from Ireland and, therefore, it's in the DNA???

I have the redhair and freckles of the Irish, soooooo I am an Irish lass or old woman! :) God Bless! Betty
