Had a bunch of episodes where I was detecting and all of a sudden the Safari starts freaking out . The numbers start jumping around 40 then 9 then 18 . All over the place.Tried turning off then on,switching to menu and back Finnally turn it off. After 5 or 10 min turned on it was fine!!!! Thought batts were low Put in new batts Still did it after that. Then in some areas it worked ok! Has anyone else had this problem ? Could it be from under ground wires Cable phone? Tried ground balancing coulple times but still jumped around When I moved to another area seemed to work fine. Also when I held it up in the air it calmed down. If anyone can shed some light on this send me a message. Thanks to all for your help, ( P.S. I still found 45 coins,)

I think that might of happened to me.

Went to a different area ....never happened since.
Also remember to clean the coil after each use. Take the coil cover off and clean.

Hope that solves the issue .... or try another coil.

never used the safari but i have over the years had a little trouble with interference in some areas close to a radio station. wouldn't do it all the time and it would be just certain areas at a school on one side and a park another side of the station.

I had the same problem a couple of days ago, was working fine, then led safari on the ground whilst ferretting around in a hole & it started making wild noises like R2D2. As soon as i picked it up off the ground it was fine. So i led it back on the ground again & it chattered like mad again. Once i got back on foot & carried on detecting it stopped completely. I was right out in the middle of nowhere, so i can't really give any explanation for it. :detecting:

Did you try lowering the sensitivity to reduce the interference. Even at the setting of 1 my quattro will still find the coins in the top 2 inches.
