How many frequency's am I using under normal hunting with safari instruction manual really does not say just says multiple?

The FBS machines like the Safari and Explorer are using 28 frequencies. The Etrac also uses 28
frequencies. Gary

I borrowed a friends frequency counter the other day while I am hunting with Safari. It looks to me when you push noise cancel it scans 28 but only selects a small group 3 or 4 to hunt with does this sound right does anyone know? Getting confused does the etrac work the same way.?

When you do a noise cancel on the machine,it scans all the frequencies and
picks the best one for the area that you are hunting. The Etrac does the same
thing when you do a noise cancel with it.They pick out the frequency that has
the least interference and uses that frequency. Gary

Thanks for the info that is what my counter was showing also.I really thought it was like a scanner using all 28 frequencies while hunting I bought Andy's book on etrac read it more carefully this time.It looks to me that the Marketing and Sales manager at Minelab are their greatest asset.I was thinking my safari was broken borrowed friends etrac to find antique gold ring that was lost in 100 foot area 40 years ago. Could not find with either machine out of lack of not knowing to do next took out dads 1266X and found ring at 8 inches it was large gold cameo bigger than I thought.Still trying to digest some of the things that I am learning.

I have an Etrac and a Safari and have found some great stuff with both of them.I like the ability
to adjust the different settings on the Etrac and the simplicity of the Safari.I also have a SE Pro
and Quattro that I use every now and then.It is so dry here in the Indy area and the ground is
like concrete to dig in.I hope we get a good rain before too long or it will be tuff finding anything
very deep. Gary

We got an inch last weekend but it sucked it right up I may have to quit for awhile on lawns which is ok fishing and hunting is on full swing here I am about 30 miles west of joliet.I have a 100 year old strip pit I can hunt with beach but has been to crowded not sure how to hunt in gravel will turn out anyway we really could use slow all day soaker.I think the safari will handle that gravel better than any other detector I have owned.I have been doing pretty good dove hunting the only problem is picking them out of the air with the flocks of mosquito's.
