Frequency shifting

New member
Has anyone tried frequency shifting when electrical interference hits you? And if so what frequency did you end up with?

Yes, I always try it if I'm having interference problems, sometimes it helps and sometimes it don't, also there is no way to know which way to go, you just have to experiment going in both direction and if you find a point that works then you just go with that.
Remember its only a shift, so your not going in any great direction up or down the frequency range.

Yes, and the quietest frequency can actually be any of them. Not one particular frequency all the time. HH jim tn

The main use we found when detecting is sometimes when your hunting with other people and when you are in close proximity to each other both detectors might be on the same frequency and cause interference with each other and by changing one detectors frequency it will eliminate the interference.

"Reduces Detector Cross Talk"

Probably more of the purpose of this feature than anything else, this will sometimes be the winning difference in "Club Hunts"

Yep, I use it. It is there for a good reason. Mainly when I get near a building that has outdoor cameras or other electrical sensors or when around power lines and sometimes when around other detectors. I find that changing the frequency numbers or more will take care of most interference but not always. I have been using the F75 since 2008 and have many hours on it and did the upgrade last year. After the upgrade I find that interference doesn't affect the F75 as before the upgrade.

The best way to find the right freq. to use is to put it in all metal and go through F1 thru F7 and find the one that gives you the smoothest threshold. That should give you the best performance.

The reason you should do this in all metal is because if it's in discriminate mode and you go through F1 - F7, there may be more than one frequency that quiets the machine down but may not be the best to use.

I knew the how, but not the why.

Thanks for the rest of the story,
