Went up home to see the family. It rained and rained. Also rained on and off on the drive home today. I stopped and detected a few places and was interrupted by rain every time. The first pic is the first 4 sites. I only got a few minutes at two of the sites. The first site produced a silver dime and a wheat and I would have stayed longer if not for the, you guessed it, rain. Pic two is stuff from the last site. I love this particular school. Got a Kennedy Half. Piece of a costume necklace. Basketball championship pin. Big screw thing. I have found 3 or 4 of these. WHAT ARE THEY? My first 100 plus coin day in a little while. I am losing steam in a hurry. I'm 1700 coins ahead of last year but last year I had big totals in both July and August.
For the poster who asked about wheat to silver ratio. I have found 66 wheats in 2009 and 10 silver coins. That 6:1 ratio is pretty close. I do NOT find many silver coins and this year is poorer than normal so far.
Mom had read an article I recently wrote for a magazine (I hope a few of you read it too) and looked through her old and broken jewelry to add to my scrap pile. A few odd earrings and two rings which had been cut off of their owners fingers. One was a baby ring with Beatrice engraved on it. Oddly there are no Beatrice's on our family tree. She had also found the pictured ring at a flea market. She paid a quarter for it. It is marked solid gold which is a mark I had never seen. Anybody seen one like it? It was tarnished pretty bad. I polished it up and tested it and it is 10K. I was surprised. I would have guessed brass. I haven't weighed it but it is thin and light. Mom's are great.
For those of you that have been following my neighbor saga. Wednesday night we had a confrontation. He had a lot of friends over and he was shouting at me through my door. Nasty stuff. I went out and confronted him. He was pretty loaded. I told him there was a way we could settle our dispute and that shouting though my door was not it. He approached me looking for a fight and I told him that it wasn't going to happen. He got more riled and his friends dragged him inside. A few of them told me they would calm him down and apologized to me. I told them if he calmed down to tell him that I was not happy with the whole situation and that if we are going to live next door to each other we should at very least tolerate each other and that I was sorry. Later as I was packing for my trip, there was a bang at my door. It was my neighbor and his girl and he was still very drunk and very angry but we talked for 15 minutes and ultimately shook hands and agreed to a fresh start. I hope he remembers. I'm sure his girl will. Turns out it was his birthday and they had a party which was pretty quiet and respectful. Worked out OK. Some day we'll run into each other and I'll buy them a few drinks and hopefully fully mend our fences. He hasn't returned my flag. I'm putting up a new one tomorrow.
Happy Independence Day! God Bless America!

The key card is for a school security system. Wonder if it works? I didn't try it out.
